A freight forwarder in intermodal transport takes on the role of organiser and coordinator of freight transports in which several modes of transport – such as truck, rail or ship – are combined. The freight forwarder ensures that the goods are transported smoothly from their point of origin to their destination without having to be reloaded or repacked in between.<\/p>\n\n

His tasks include selecting the right combination of modes of transport, booking means of transport, drawing up transport documents and monitoring the entire process<\/strong>. He plans the transport in such a way that time, costs and sustainability are harmonised in the best possible way. He works closely with transport companies, transhipment terminals, customs authorities and the customer.<\/p>\n\n

The freight forwarder therefore acts as a link<\/strong> between the various parties involved in the transport process and ensures that all processes run efficiently and in compliance with the law. They are therefore a central point of contact and service provider for companies wishing to transport their goods in intermodal transport.<\/p>\n\n
